ODISHA DIBAS CELEBRATION IN NEW DELHI

The Odisha State Foundation Day ‘Odisha Day’ was celebrated with joy and fervor at the Shri Satya Sai International Centre, Lodi Road in New Delhi. The function was inaugurated by Shri Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra, IAS, Resident Commissioner, Government of Odisha, New Delhi by lighting the traditional lamp and offering flowers to the idol of Lord Jagannath and the portraits of the illustrious founders of Odisha.

In his address, Resident Commissioner, Shri Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra mentioned that Odisha is recognized in National and International Level for its rich art, culture, and heritage. He highlighted that due to the great sacrifice of our founders, Odisha was formed as a separate State on 1st April 1936. In the present scenario, he stated that the growth rate of GSDP of our State is 7.93% which is more than the National average of 7.1%. Under the able leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik, the Government has taken several initiatives for improvement of agriculture , health and education sector in the State, he added.

Resident Commissioner, Shri Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra, IAS gave away prizes to 12 Odias students studying in different schools in Delhi and NCR. The students had participated in a Painting and Essay Competition organized by the Office of the Chief Resident Commissioner. Certificates of Appreciation were also presented to all the students who participated in the competition. Shri Arun Panda, IAS and Shri Surendra Tripathy, IAS both working in Government of India as Secretaries felicitated the Artists.

Among others, the Secretaries to Government of India, retired officers, senior state government officers, eminent Odias, educationists, journalists and Odia residents living in Delhi and NCR attended in large number in the Odisha Dibas.
